This is a C6th arrangement ( D on top) of the song 'I Can't
Give
You Anything But Love' (Words & Music by Dorothy Fields
& Jimmy
McHugh).
The arrangement is inspired by a recording (which
I think I found on Herb
Steiners site though it doesn't seem to be there at
the moment) made by Joaquin
Murphey. Mine isn't that close to the original, since, firstly, on the
recording Murph trades phrases with a horn section (and I can't play
trumpet; ok - I'm not that hot on steel either, but you get my drift
;-) and, secondly, Murph didn't use standard C6th tuning for
this
(he had
his own tuning : according to the sleeve notes of the CD entitled
'Murph' - available from B0b - this was GECAGEC#C#B, high to low).
If you've got a 12 string, then you'll find it easier to play
the last
phrase using the top G at positions 9-11 (no pedals,
grip 2,3,4,5 and
G).
As always, the '*' symbol means half-pedal (or a split, if you
have this).
Backing track is from Band In A Box, and you can download it as a
separate midi by right-clicking here
and then doing 'save link as ..'.
