I worked this out by ear, and, when I then compared what I'd done with the Fake Sheet, I saw that I'd started with the chords Db9, C6 instead of the pukka G7, C6. The Db9 sounds better to me, and it turns out that this is an example of a
Tritone Substitution
. So that's ok then ;-)
